£9,850.00Oil on Canvas . ' The Approaching Storm' Attributed to Claude Joseph Vernet (1714-1789). Vernet was born in Avignon and began painting for his father, who was a decorator of carriages, when just 14 years old. Claude Gellee/Lorrain greatly influenced Vernet, particularly his representations of classical Italianate ruins. This painting contains many of the elements, colours and atmosphere of his famous work 'A Calm on the Mediterranean' in The Getty Museum. Oil of Kettlewell, Yorkshire
£490.00Oil on board. Kettlewell, North Yorkshire, looking towards Hagg Dyke. Gordon Barlow. (1913 Bradford -2004). He was a protégé of Herbert Royle (1870-1958) and painted prolifically, mainly in oils. His artwork became popular to a point where he was able to work freelance as a professional oil painter. As a number of his paintings included golfers and golf courses, he was included in the Dictionary of Sporting Artists 1650-1990, published by the Antique Collectors Club in 1992. £350.00Oil on board of a northern street scence. Possibly Leeds. Barbara Dawson. Exhibited at the Yorkshire Artists Exhbition in 1957. This exhibition, held at Leeds City Art Gallery, was notable for featuring work by a young David Hockney, including a painting of his father. At the time, Hockney was a student at Bradford College of Art. The painting of his father was sold at the exhibition for £10, which Hockney said helped him financially.
