Pair of Antique Italian Sgabello Chairs
£1,650.00Pair of antique Italian Sgabello hall chairs with intricate romayne panels and grotesque masks,surrounded by ribbons and foliage. Late 18th/early 19th century. The word Scabello comes from the Latin for stool - scabellum. An earlier pair with similar carving to the lower front 'legs' are in The Metropolitan Museum in New York.
